Custom Made Orthotics vs. Custom Heat Molded

Custom made orthotics normally involve taking an impression of your feet and then creating Orthotic inserts based on those impressions.  This method generally results in a comfortable fit and provides good support, the disadvantage is the price as custom made orthotics generally cost $250-350 dollars.   Vasyli Custom Orthotic Inserts are a bit different as they are heat molded ( usually by a chiropractor or physical therapist ) for a comfortable fit.  Using this heat molding method, a pair of Vasyli Custom Orthotics cost less than $100.

As people move through their 30's many begin to notice the signs of not having proper arch support in their shoes.  These issues have been exacerbated by the popularity of flip flops and cheap shoes.  Record numbers of people are having problems with their feet, legs, hips and back.  Poor support in shoes, high heels and flip flops have contributed to an epidemic of foot pain, heel pain, arch pain and related ailments.  If we spent the majority of our time walking on sand, grass and other natural surfaces we wouldn't need arch support.  However, most of us spend most of our time on hard surfaces and this causes your feet begin to roll inward to compensate for the lack of surface area.  This is called pronation and it affects other parts of the body such as the knees, hips and lower back, and also leads to plantar fasciitis, forefoot pain, corns and bunions.

In general, it's easiest ( and cheapest ) to start with a standard orthotic like the ones we carry from Orthaheel.  You simply choose the application you want to use them for and the correct size for your shoe.  Some of the specific applications include:

If you find that standard Orthotic inserts don't suit your needs, you can contact your nearest chiropractor and ask for the Vasyli Custom line of orthotic inserts.  These orthotics are custom fit and heat molded to insure the best comfort.  Custom Orthotic Inserts are definitely worth the price if you spend a good amount of time on your feet or have specific foot conditions.
